Ergonomic Pillows
Ergonomic pillows, with synthetic foam, are specific: they usually meet a medical need, in order to prevent the risks of deformation of the spine. Most of them have a wave shape, which helps to keep the spine straight by keeping the head in the hollow of the wave.

Feather pillows are generally soft and retain human heat very easily. In summer, they may be unusable. They have a considerable life span, which can exceed 10 years if used and cared for properly. Feather pillows adapt to the shape of the head and are good sound insulators. They can also be easily adapted to individual comfort requirements by changing the density of the feathers. The fabric used to make feather pillows is inherently more waterproof than that used for synthetic down. For this reason, the amount of allergens is often less – contrary to popular belief – than in synthetic pillows.
Synthetic fluff pillows are often filled with industrial waste synthetic fibers. They are economical, but their comfort is quickly altered after a few months of use: these fibers, under the effect of body pressure, form agglomerates that become denser and more heterogeneous.
Pillow Cases vs Pillow Covers
Pillow cases are made of a fabric that is more durable than a pillow cover, so they last longer. They also wrap around the entire side of the pillow to protect it from dust and other debris in your home or outside environment, while still allowing air flow through. A pillow cover protects only the top part of the pillow but does not have any sort of wraparound design like a pillowcase would.

History
The use of pillows can be traced back to the Mesopotamian civilizations around 7000 BC. The pillow is then a sign of social status. Their use was to correct neck, back and shoulder problems during sleep. They were also used to keep the head away from insects.
Egypt
Wooden or stone pillows have been found in tombs. Most were placed under the head of the mummy, a head considered sacred. Elsewhere, pillows were used to support the head, to reinforce the strength of the body, to facilitate the circulation of blood and to keep away evil spirits.
Europe
The Romans and Greeks used softer pillows made of straw, feathers and reeds. Pillows were also used as kneeling cushions during prayers or for placing sacred books. Like the Egyptians, they were slipped under the heads of the deceased.
China
China used pillows made of various materials such as bamboo, jade, porcelain, wood and bronze or skin. Porcelain pillows were the most common. Their use goes back as far as the Sui Dynasty, while mass production appeared in the next dynasty, the Tang Dynasty, between 618 and 907. Chinese pillows are of varying shapes and decorated with animal, human and plant motifs. The heyday of porcelain pillows was between the 10th and 14th centuries before giving way to other more practical methods of manufacture.
